A dynamic manager, rigorous jurist and artist at heart, Guy-François is known as a great communicator with an ability to rally others with political acumen and a sense of humour.

Guy-François joined Monette Barakett in 2018 as the firm’s managing director. As such, he is in charge of business strategy, legal talent development as well as communications and marketing. He serves on the executive committee as well as most of the firm’s various strategy-oriented committees.

Guy-François brings to Monette Barakett his management skills as well those in the fields of public affairs, strategic planning and governance of public bodies and non-profit organizations, together with his deep knowledge of the employers reality and of the legal community.

Prior to joining Monette Barakett, Guy-François worked as a labour and employment lawyer as well as in public law for different legal firms and later for Hydro-Québec’s legal services. He then worked as legal affairs director for Québec’s employer council (CPQ) and later as vice-president in charge of legal affairs and matters relating to employment legislation and regulation, at which time he was invited to join Monette Barakett.

Throughout his career, Guy-François has served on bodies and committees of various organizations, notably the CNESST (Québec’s labour standards and safety commission), the Québec’s advisory committee on labour and workforce (CCTM), and the International Labour Organization. He has also appeared numerous times before parliamentary committees reviewing bills of interest to employers and has led judicial interventions before the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also frequently spoken with the media to comment on legal affairs.

He is regularly called upon to speak on various topics and teaches at Québec’s bar school.

Guy-François is also a board member of Montréal’s Centre du Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui and heads the organizing committee for its benefit show in which he also participates as an actor, as well as of Asphalte diffusion, producer of the Lumifest.
