Profile

Valérie Héon is known for her efficiency, versatility and intellectual curiosity. Driven by new challenges and renowned for her thoroughness and determination, she wisely puts her fieriness and tenacity to work for her clients and always ensures she produces work of quality. Valérie started her career working at the Québec Court of Appeal alongside the honourable Marie-Josée Hogue where she worked on all kinds of exacting questions of law. This first experience offered her a privileged perspective on the spirit of the magistracy and an opportunity to develop an expertise for legal research, analysis and writing.

Valérie joined Monette Barakett in July 2018 and her practice focuses mainly on labour law, civil litigation and health and social services law. She involves herself with cases in the early stages and offers the same care in following through in advising employers on preventing disputes. When it comes to litigation, she involves herself on a number of fronts, from research and preliminary analysis to drafting legal opinions, notices of proceedings, proposed settlements and agreements.

Valérie is also called upon to plead cases before common law tribunals, particularly on matters relating to institutional care and medical care authorization. She also contributes to the firm’s different publications and works.

During her law studies at Université de Montréal, Valérie was offered the chance to work as a research assistant for a number of professors, primarily in civil and health law. As such, she contributed to a number of publications including the first edition of Code civil du Québec – Annotations – Commentaires 2016-2017 (eds. Benoit Moore, Yvon Blais).
