Maude is known for her thoroughness, her great curiosity and her analytical mind.
Maude became a member of the Monette Barakett team in 2021 after completing her bar internship.
As part of the legal team, her practice focuses on health and social services law, labour law and civil litigation. Maude is called upon to advise institutions about all issues relating to governance, health care delivery, service user relations and data management. She is also called upon to work cases involving occupational injury claims and to advise clients in their day-to-day management of labour relations.
She regularly pleads cases before the courts on matters relating to medical care ordinances and institutional care.
Maude earned her master’s degree in law and healthcare policy from Université de Sherbrooke in 2020. Her thesis focused on the on the interface of law and medical ethics in clinical use of placebo treatment. During her studies, she was a medical law research assistant to Professor Louise Bernier. She completed a hospital internship in clinical and organizational ethics.
In parallel to her legal practice, she is an enthusiast of yoga, which she also passionately teaches.
Achievement, implications, awards
During her academic studies, Maude participated in a pan-Canadian law-school mooting competition. She was a member of Pro Bono Students Canada at Université de Sherbrooke and was an editor of the student’s newspaper.
Maude made the Dean’s Honour List for her academic achievements.
She is a member of the Youth Committee at the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
