Anne-Marie Bertrand received her law degree from the Université de Montréal and was admitted to the Bar in November 1986. She joined the Monette Barakett firm in 1985. She has been a partner at the firm since 1997. She earned her Master’s Degree in Health Law from the Université de Sherbrooke. Her master’s thesis dealt with preventive withdrawal of pregnant workers in the health sector.
She began her practice in labour relations and civil litigation. Since 1992, she has mainly been working in the areas of labour relations and occupational health and safety.
Specializing in issues having medicolegal implications, Ms. Bertrand is called upon to advise and assist managers from diverse backgrounds.
She is consulted in contentious cases and regularly appears before administrative tribunals in matters of occupational health and safety, labour relations and grievance arbitration. She also assists her clients in strategic development. She is particularly in demand in matters pertaining to presence management at work, absenteeism, the duty to accommodate and psychological harassment.
She offers personalized training as a guest speaker for clients and for symposiums organized by various agencies.
Ms. Bertrand is a member of the Order of Certified Human Resources Professionals and, as such, has edited a number of articles for this organization.
Ms. Bertrand is also accredited as a mediator by the Quebec Bar, in both civil and commercial law (labour relations specialization).
